The Calm Before The Storm

So….I’m back. A lot has happened since my last post. I’ve gotten a new job, moved to a new state, and finally acquired my very own pinball machine. I’ve also transitioned from playing occasional pinball to playing several times a week. In light of this, and with the additional incentive of participating in NaNoWriMo this year, I’ve decided to try to write more often. If I can make it through a month, hopefully the habit will develop and I can make this site something better.

The “Calm”

Before starting my new job, I had already committed to playing in Pinburgh this year. However, I went into Pinburgh extremely underprepared as far as practice is concerned. Prior to the tournament, I had only been able to practice for a day or two in the previous three months. My skills were rusty, and my stamina needed a lot of work. Fortunately, my new living situation afforded me ample opportunity to improve.

Prior to my new job and associated move, the only place I could participate in a pinball league was about 2 hours from my home. In my new location, I am within an hour of three leagues (and I think I’ve gone a bit overboard by participating in all three).

The Storm

All of this playing is making my free time more and more scarce. Until Thanksgiving, I will be striving for WPPRs at a breakneck pace. Tomorrow I will be competing in the 24 Hour Final Battle at The Sanctum. In the weeks following, I will be participating in two A division league finals (CRAP and NEPL).

What’s Next

I want to elaborate more, but it’s already late on Friday night, so I’m off to bed to compete for an entire day tomorrow. See you on the other side.
